Preordering books

This evening, I finally preordered my copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which — as everyone knows — will be ours on the happy day that is July 21, 2007. I'm doing business with Borders again this year. For those who are familiar with Borders' book 7 promotion and are wondering which sticker I chose to proclaim how I feel about a certain former Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, I chose the one that reads "Trust Snape" instead of "Snape Is A Very Bad Man." However, that's only because they didn't make any stickers that say "Snape Is Certainly A Nasty Piece Of Work, But I Trust Dumbledore And Dumbledore Trusts Him."

While I was there, I also preordered myself the new Tolkien book, Children of Húrin. I know the book came out a few days ago... it just hasn't made it to my local bookstore quite yet. Hopefully it will get here by the end of the week. However, when it arrives at the bookstore is rather irrelevant - I'll need to wait until summer vacation starts to have the free time in which to read it.

Interesting trivia about the Harry Potter series and the teaching assistant: When book 5 came out on June 21, 2003, I was in the midst of taking summer school classes in college. When book 6 came out on July 16, 2005, I was teaching a college summer school class. When book 7 comes out, I will once again be in the middle of teaching a session of summer school.

When book 4 came out on June 8, 2000, I wasn't in summer school, but I very well might have been reading a book to prepare for the AP English class I'd take the next fall.
