What I've been up to lately

As my father noted earlier this evening, things have been rather quiet around here. Here are several things among many that have gotten in the way of me taking the time to write anything here...

1. Visiting my future in-laws for a week or so
2. Traveling for half a week to attend the wedding of a friend from college
3. Moving (although that happened weeks ago, internet access is not yet set up at the new place)
4. Developing an addiction to Tom Clancy's novels involving espionage and political intrigue. This summer, I've read these novels (or listened to them as an unabridged* audiobook): The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, The Cardinal in the Kremlin, Clear and Present Danger, Red Rabbit, and Without Remorse. Most of the aforementioned books clock in at upwards of 700 pages, Tom Clancy likes his descriptions full of realism, and there are spies of one sort or another running around all over. That all translates to "I've been having a lot of fun reading lately!"
5. Discovering season one of the new Doctor Who. It's very entertaining.
6. Trying to plan my wedding
7. Thinking about how the Harry Potter saga came to its conclusion

*Abridged books are a sacrilege. We hates them, precious, like we hates the nasty hobbitses who stole our ring and the irritating mistakeses our introductory and intermediate Spanish students make with the verbs gustar and llamarse.
